Our friends showed us an incredible send-off, that's for sure. We feel more blessed and encouraged than we ever have been in our lives. The wonderful Pete and Victoria hosted our going away party. I created the invite and was pretty pleased with how it came out. I miss you all so much already!
Our community group and prayer group also hosted going away parties and prayed over us. It was definitely bitter-sweet, but I am thankful to live in a time of internet and cell phones so we can keep in touch.
When it came time to actually move out, Budget didn't follow through on their reservation. It was a nightmare, but a few hours later and a 2 hour drive to Fredericksburg and back, we had a truck. Everything was loaded and we were off to Mechanicsville to say goodbye to my folks and sleep for a brief few hours.
Up and on the road by 3:30am. 13 hour drive in a moving truck towing the car with a dog in the middle seat is no joke. Especially when you find a colony of ants and their eggs have moved into your plants and herb garden and have to throw them out half-way there.
When we got here, we found that the AC unit had a broken pipe and had leaked everywhere and caused mold, so we had to wait for maintenance to arrive and fix it. We finally unloaded the truck around 9:30 pm, set up the bed, then slept. LONG day.
Praise God that we made it safely, the only casualties being a broken light bulb and my plants.
Now that we are here, we are adjusting well and setting up home. Jon has been in orientation and starts classes this week. I'm excited to see how the Lord will grow us in the coming 4 years.
